Humayun
Ahmed is the most famous contemporary Bengali
writer. He has been writing for over 25 years and has built a sky-scraping career as a
novelist. He has been honored with Bangla Academy Award, Shishu Academy Award and Ekushe
Podok. He wrote several TV drama serials and directed the movie Aguner Porosh Moni (Philosopher's Stone of Fire). In
1995 this movie, based on 1971 Independence War of Bangladesh, was selected as the best
motion picture of the year. Japan's NHK created a documentary on him. He is a former
professor in Chemistry Department of Dhaka University, Bangladesh. In
recent years Humayun Ahmed has become a popular film director by making more successful
movies after Aguner Porosh Moni, such as Sraban Magher Din and Dui
Duary. |
