Kuchbihar road named after Abbasuddin
Kuchbihar Paurasabha of West Bengal recently decided to name one of the
main roads of the town after the late singer "Abbasuddin" who lived there in the
40's, reports BSS.
Sri Dinesh Chandra Dakua, a minister of the West
Bengal Government, is expected to unveil the plaque of the newly named road
"Abbasuddin Sarani" on February 19. Another Minister Jogesh Chandra Barman,
General Secretary of the "Abbasuddin Memorial Association" and Secretary for
Energy and Mineral Resources of the West Bengal Government Sukhobilash Barma and family
members of the late singer will also attend the ceremony.
Legendary folk singer late Abbasuddin was born in
Balarampur village of Tufanganj subdivision, 12 miles from Kuchbihar district
headquarters. In the 40's. He built a house at Palashbari road in Kuchbihar main town,
which was known as "Hiraman Manzil."
The late singer came to Dhaka after the partition of
India in 1947.
Family sources of Abbasuddin said, his eldest son,
Judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court Mustafa Kamal, youngest son eminent
folk singer Mustafa Zaman Abbasi and daughter renowned singer Ferdousi Rahman will attend
the special ceremony at Kuchbihar. |
