The news bulletin
of Bangladesh Television (BTV) is the worst TV programme while Ittadi, a magazine
programme, is the most popular to the television viewers of the country, says a survey
report on viewers opinion on TV channels.
According to the report, people
dislike the BTV news bulletin because of its lacking neutrality, domination of the news of
the Prime Minister and ministers, dissemination of false news, monotonous presentation and
wrong pronunciation of the newscasters.
On the other hand, the reasons for
popularity of Ittadi are the attractive presentation of Hanif Sanket and drawing
the peoples attention to social ills and maladies through wit, humour and satire.
Center for Communication Network
(CCN), a multi-disciplinary research organisation, conducted the three-month survey among
1007 television viewers of four divisional cities- Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong and Khulna.

The report was presented by the
chief executive of CCN, Zillur Rahman, at a press conference in the city yesterday.
The report says, 98 per cent of the
television owners have cable connections, 65 per cent of the viewers watch the satellite
channels regularly while 35 per cent of them are occasional viewers.
Most of the satellite channel
viewers watch Bangla channels and to 71% of them, Channel
(I) is the favourite channel.
Of the foreign channels, the most
popular channel is National Geographic Channel, followed by Discovery and Sony.
Ekushey
Television has been described as the best entertainment channel for family members.
Some 50 per cent of the viewers
think that there is no influence of advertisements on the viewers while 44 per cent of
them consider the influence moderate.
Most of the viewers said TV channels
play a vital role in change of dress and social customs.
