show: The 12th BATEXPO (Bangladesh Apparel & Textile Exposition) fashion show
at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel's poolside on last Sunday was a carousel ride where
country's leading textile and apparel industries showcased their latest collections.
Organised by BATEXPO and DHL Worldwide Express the fashion show was a part of the three

A much-awaited film
in cinema halls across the country - As the
story unfolds, a village girl, Meghla (Moushumi) is shown in love with a neighbour. The
boy (Amit Hasan) refuses to marry Meghla when she leaves her home by denouncing her
arranged marriage with Khoybor Molla (Shahidul Alam Sachchu), a middle-aged man. Insulted
by the cowardice of her lover, Meghla decides to commit suicide. But after a series of
road mishaps the girl finds a new shelter after a smart young man, Javed (Ayub Khan)

2002" at a grand beauty pageant at Winter Garden of Dhaka Sheraton on last Thursday.
This year 18 men and women competed for Best Look and Best Hair awards. Perky Azra and
handsome Asif walked away with the Best Look awards while Sadia and Ratan pulled off the

Film director Ehtesham dies at 75 - Leading director and producer Ehtesham, died in Dhaka at the weekend due to old
age complications, family sources said. A family member of the 75-year-old film maker said
Ehtesham died in his sleep on Sunday, 17 February 2002. Ehtesham is also credited with
discovering many cinema talents, including Pakistan's leading actor Nadeem, who later
became his son-in-law marrying his only daughter. Born as Abu Nur Muhammad Ehteshamul Haq
in Dhaka in 1927, Ehtesham joined the local film industry in 1950 as a cinema distributor.
Six years later he set up his own cinema production company and launched his first film

For the first time Dhaka will
enjoy splendor of LASER Light shows to be hosted by Microcell on the evenings of
February 13 & 14 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city. The forthcoming
laser light extravaganza will feature a custom music sound track; laser generated abstract
designs, customized logos and wonderfully illustrated animations. Several high-speed LASER
projectors those will be used for creating big, colourful images on a massive 100-feet
screen, to be specially installed for the events. The show will start at around 8 o'clock
and it has been decided to switch off all street and building lights around the venue in
