Sadika Parveen, better known to cinema audience of Bangladesh
as Poppy, is one of the few film actresses who are breathing new hope towards
the revitalization of Bangladeshi film industry. Poppy came into limelight for
the first time in 1995 after winning the Lux-Anondodhara Photo Beauty contest
in 1995. She started her career as model. Her appearance in Berger and Aromatic
soap commercial made her an instant superstar. Then she set her foot at TV
plays. In 1997, she started her journey as a movie star with the film ‘Kuli’
directed by AK Siddiqui. The film was a huge commercial success and Poppy had
to never look back. Poppy won National Film Award in 2003 for the movie
Karagar. Now, poppy is very selective about her films and aims to do some very
good works which will establish herself not only as a heart throb heroine but
as a talented actress.
